The plain truth is that if you are nice & considerate you are most of the times considered as “WEAK”, “STUPID” & “DIM WITTED”.
The society where I practice was formed in 1992.
I have been practicing since 10th June 1990 i.e. almost one & a half year before the society was formed.
Now right from day one the society has been charging me commercial charges which is grossly illegal. The practice of dentistry does not attract commercial charges. There are multiple judgement of courts all over India to support this.
I was young & stupid at that time & full of idealism (which was actually misplaced).I wanted to establish myself as a perfectionist dentist.
I said to myself that I spend more time in the clinic than in my house. So even if my pay some extra money to the society where I practice it is OK.
So when the society started levying commercial charges on me I did not mind & just paid it.
I thought let it be used for the upkeep of the facility where I practice.
Now within a few months the society started increasing the commercial charges. It started with Rs.100/- & finally it went up till Rs.750/- . My other maintenance bill as Rs.1650/-. This means that commercial charges are almost 50% of my regular maintenance.
The society has stopped sending me bills and receipt since March 2022. They did this because they realized the gross anomalies in my bills. The more faulty bills they send the more they will get into a legal trap.
Now I tried to explain them & reason with them infinite number of times but nothing come out of it.
The office bearers were besotted with jealousy & they thought let us extract as much money as possible from the doctor.
Besides doctors are soft targets in Indian scenario & I was seen as dim witted person anyway.
They were taken aback when I initiated legal proceedings against them.
Even after initiation of legal proceedings there were two compromise meetings. They ended with abuses, bad words & invectives.
I paid commercial charges from December 1992 till August 2002.
My legal team is now working on it to recover those illegally imposed charges back with interest. We will do so if the law allows us:-
So a few universal truths:-
1. Reserve your kindness, courtesies & charity to those who deserve it. Shower them on others & you will be seen as dim witted, stupid & foolish.
2. Its good to be idealistic but idealism should never be misplaced. It should be based on reality.
3. The main universal & timeless truth however is that universal & timeless truths have to be learnt from experience & not from books & discourses.
Life treats every human being differently & everyone has to learn his own lessons. And life keeps on teaching you unless you learn.
