One of the reason for patients not accepting higher end dental procedures or in some cases even routine conservative dentistry procedures is because it takes too much of time.
Time is a vanishing resource & is valuable for everybody. In many cases patients genuinely are not able to schedule time from their daily routine for dental treatment.
So now as dental surgeons we need to try & reduce the time taken for dental procedures without compromising on the quality.
To achieve this we have to pay attention to a few aspects. They are:
- Proper treatment planning
- Proper work flow planning
- Staff training
- Time saving equipment which is well maintained.
- Proper illumination. In this blog I will elaborate in brief on the above.
We need to plan out every procedure in the minutest detail possible. This will reduce chair side time.
In a diary make a note of the time taken for various procedures. Refer to the diary often. Within sometime you will find yourself working in more planned manner.
Staff training is a constant process & trained staff can greatly reduce the time taken to perform any dental procedure. Six handed dentistry is a must & if possible even eight handed dentistry.
It helps if you have the latest equipments. They need to be well maintained. Rotary endodontics has greatly saved time to perform routine endo.
A procedure which is completed in an optimum time is greatly appreciated by patients. A well trained, smiling staff who works in perfect synchronization with each other & the dentist create an environment of efficiency & effectiveness. That is a great practice builder.
Time saved is money earned. And every dentist deserves an awesome income.
