All over India dental surgeons are struggling to keep their practices afloat and maintain footfall and the revenue. The main problem is that every locality in India is saturated by dentists. The problem is multifactorial and I will cover all aspects of the same in different blogs.
Some practices have started marketing themselves in social media and through other avenues and some have started aggressive marketing. Most of the times the results are pathetic.
One fallout of the problem is that it has resulted in a flurry of speakers who conduct courses on practice marketing.
Now before you start practice marketing please read this blog.
Inevitably a friend ,relative or an immediate family member accompanies the patient for his dental treatment. Now I want all dentist to check the patients register and find out when was the last time the person who accompanied the patient also asked you “Doctor can you check my teeth also?”
Now before you embark on marketing to get more footfall to your practices please brood on this. Every person who accompanies a patient is a potential patient of yours.
If s/he is impressed by your communication skills, your persona ,the ambience of the clinic, the staff there is a good possibility that s/he will also ask for a dental check up from your clinic.
So dentists are spending money to practice marketing and missing out on a practice opportunity which presents itself daily.
So dentists could consider improving all aspects of the facilities, practice ,counselling etc and invest accordingly so that the person accompanying the patient also immediately asks for a dental check up appointment .
For success in dental practice you need to work more on inside the practice rather than outside the practice.
This will generate better returns.
Other aspects of this problem will be covered in separate blogs.
